EveryBODY Matters in Movement!
Did you know?
Walking is one of the easiest types of movement to add to your daily routine! Walking to class helps your body wake up quicker, and reduces stress, while getting your body some nice fresh air!
Take the stairs
Taking the stairs not only strengthens your heart and builds muscles in your lower body, but can actually reduce your risk of cardiovascular diseases and blood clots, and even increase your lifespan! Taking the stairs up to your next study session can increase the oxygenated blood flow to your brain, prepping you for that upcoming exam. Save time and don't wait for the elevator, and take the stairs!
Get dancing!
Moving and grooving is amazing for your body and brain! Dance enhances agility and balance, which can help prevent falls and maintain mobility over time. Moving to music triggers your brains reward system, releasing all those feel-good hormones that reduce stress and anxiety. Recalling dance steps is also a great brain workout for the hippocampus, and has even been seen in some studies to reduce the risk of dementia. Turn up the tunes and throw a dance party, it's good for you!
