Alumna to be Featured on Food Network’s “Christmas Cookie Challenge” for a Chance to Win $10,000
Leslie Srodek-Johnson, ’01, a Ģý journalism graduate, mother of two and lead decorator and baker at Stan’s Northfield Bakery, received the call of a lifetime in December 2018. It was from the Food Network asking her to be a part of the “Christmas Cookie Challenge.”
Ģý’s Giving Tuesday Breaks Records for Third Consecutive Year
Ģý’s Giving Tuesday 2019 raised more than $1.6 million when it ended on Dec. 3 at 11:59 p.m., shattering the previous year’s record of $1.03 million. Supporters were able to choose from more than 40 featured giving options throughout the Ģý system, including student scholarships, educational programs, athletic teams and more.

A small class assignment in college led to an off-Broadway debut for Ģý musical theatre alumnus Scott Miesse, ’15, who will be premiering his self-written play titled “Abnormal” in January 2020.

Ģý Honors Veterans With Annual Commemoration Event
Ģý held its annual Veterans Day Commemoration on Thursday, Nov. 7, in the Kent Student Center Kiva. This year’s guest speaker was Lt. Col. Colleen VanNatta. A graduate of Ģý’s Air Force ROTC detachment, VanNatta served as a media escort for joint information bureaus in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, during Operation Desert Storm.

As the champagne flowed Oct. 15 in the clubhouse of the National League Champion Washington Nationals, there was a Ģý connection in the middle of the frenzy that capped the team’s first trip to the World Series.
Ģý Celebrates Homecoming
On Saturday, Sept. 21, the Ģý fight song blared down Main Street, the city of Kent was flooded with blue and gold, alumni and friends gathered and reminisced about their Ģý days, fans packed the stadium to cheer on their beloved Golden Flashes and the entire campus boomed with Ģý pride.
